CO Climate Strike with Greta Thunberg

We are very excited to announce that Greta Thunberg will be joining youth in Denver, Colorado this Friday October 11th at 12pm at the Greek Amphitheater in Civic Center Park. Coalition Partners include Fridays for Future, International Indigenous Youth Council - Denver Chapter, Earth Guardians, 350 Colorado, Sunrise Colorado, Extinction Rebellion Denver, 350.org, & more.

The event will include:

  • A panel of speakers discussing next steps in the movement

  • A die in

  • Mass face painting of handprints over mouths to supporting MMIW movement

The youth will be presenting speakers and striking in Civic Center Park at Noon, please bring water and plan to dress warmly as it will be cold. There will be a focus on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Womxn, the fight against fracking and fossil fuel infrastructure and our frontline communities.

A Green New Deal


Transform our economy to 100% clean, renewable energy by 2030.

  • Phase-out all fossil fuel extraction through a just and equitable transition, creating millions of good jobs.

  • A halt to all leasing and permitting for fossil fuel extraction, processing, and infrastructure projects immediately – including an end to fracking, coal, and oil refineries.

  • Divestment of all public funds from fossil fuel development and extraction.

  • Prioritize the health of our families, climate, and democracy over fossil fuel industry profits by prohibiting campaign funding from fossil fuel industry executives, lobbyists, and PACs.

Respect for Indigenous Land & Sovereignty

  • Honor the treaties protecting Indigenous lands, waters, and sovereignty by the immediate halt of all construction, leasing, and permitting for resource extraction, processing, and infrastructure projects affecting or on Indigenous lands.

  • Recognize the Rights of Nature into law to protect our sacred ecosystems and align human law with natural law to ban resource extraction in defense of our environment and people.

Environmental Justice

  • A transition that invests in prosperity for communities on the frontlines of poverty and pollution, including reparations for the communities that have been most impacted by climate change and fossil fuel development.

  • Welcoming those displaced by the cumulative effects of the climate crisis, economic inequality, violence, and lack of opportunity.

  • A just transition for workers and communities who depend on fossil fuel jobs

  • Ensure the protection of our air, water & land through enforcement of testing for toxins, pollution & other contaminants.

Protection and Restoration of Biodiversity

  • Protection and restoration of 50% of the world’s lands and oceans including a halt to all deforestation by 2030.

  • Protections for local wildlife including the implementation of wildlife corridors near major highways and development.

Implementation of Sustainable Agriculture

  • Investment in farmers and regenerative agriculture and an end to subsidies for industrial agriculture.
